A: Time to draft your investment thesis and post it on the forum. the first step for giving out grants/investment is also write out your own bio, focus, theses on /forum. you need to “sell yourselves” as well. Example here. Complete test transactions and ping Li for initial funding.
Q: We’ve found a team we really like, how do we move forward?
A: As an investor, it’s up to you to perform due diligence on the team to make sure it is aligned with your investment thesis. Like any startup investment, it is recommended to consider some of the following areas: Risks, Technology, Product/Solution, Competition, Market Opportunity, Financial/Funding strategy. Ask yourself if the team can execute and solve a much-needed problem. See this due diligence checklist.
Q: We’ve done our research and want to invest in a team. How much should we invest?
A: Each team decides allocation per project.
Q: I don’t understand the 20% bonus split. How will that work?
A: Harmony will calculate the realized gain of your investment between the initial investment and 12/31/2022 and pay 20% of the increase as bonus, to be split amongst the two teammates on each project x team.
- Payment: preference is ONE. only in stablecoins and other crypto if they require.
- If they don’t have a product: must have done similar products before, or come from similar industry, or have a great deck / proposal
- Seed funding: $2-5m is typical, valuation at $10m, usually want around 6-10 partners, equaling 200k each partner. 2nd round valued at 2x or 2.5x more. Must have extraordinary product if they start valuation at 20m 1st round / 50m for 2nd round
