Web3 Festive Moments
Welcome the industry leaders and our ecosystem partners joining us for the festive time of the year. What a great year for Web3 and Harmony! Not only did DeFi products find the billion-dollar market fit, NFT is now a household word. But the most exciting of all is how DAOs are going to change our future of work and social – below is how our story starts. Just a few weeks ago in Lisbon, we were announcing our $300M ecosystem fund for 100 DAOs. Today I am proud to report that our 23 DAOs are now funded with Gnosis Safe multi-signatures and Snapshot votings. Our Research DAO already has multiple top professors as governors and giving travel grants to students; our Wallet DAO spawned three mobile clients and pushed through many security audits.
Harmony aims for open governance and vibrant participation of our ecosystem. Toward radical transparency, we aim to disclose the funding and the deliverables of the projects as much as possible. The site harmony.one/funding tracks our grants for project launches, marketing campaigns for porting Ethereum applications, or our joint efforts with other fellow DAOs. Even more radically, Harmony aims to do business development in the open. The site harmony.one/partners shows partners and fellows we are engaging in the last or coming few weeks. That is, "In Handshake & Embrace" – like Harmony's logo. We target partners with 100K users, $100M assets, or 10X potential together. We standardize the impact metrics as goals, negotiate in our public forum, use long-form writing instead of Zoom calls... truly getting ready for the DAO-to-DAO economy.
The ONEs Who Build
There’s a revolution happening right in front of our eyes that will radically change the world around us…
And it all began with ONE simple idea: to live in a world you love, you must build it….
It started as a spark
And the world let it spread like wildfire
An anonymous coder built a trillion-dollar network to be a store of value.
A 21-year-old hacker launched an infinite machine and a global community of dreamers.
These dreamers are the future
Their collective hearts beat to the same drum…
They believe in radical social change.
One where trust is not needed to participate.
One where everyone can sing in harmony.
As builders, we stand stronger together.
It takes momentum to build radical fairness and radical opportunity for 10 billion people…
That’s the future we envision.
And WE will be the ONEs to build it.
Create Wealth in Harmony
The new creator economy isn’t built with walls
It’s connected by bridges
It’s a giant social experiment on how to build wealth
We don’t need permission to participate
We just need the desire to create something bigger than ourselves
We are in the midst of radical change
And with radical change will come radical markets
Markets that don’t care where you come from, what race you are, what your past is…
All that matters is what you can create
The community that supports me gets to live in my world, see what I see
By removing barriers and building bridges
We can create wealth
Harmony as ONE's Future
“One thing that bothers me about the future is this…
I really thought we'd have flying cars and hoverboards by now But that’s okay, there’s lots of other cool things:
Robots that make cocktails and all the information in the universe at the end of one little finger
But, I dunno I kinda still want more… and now we can have it.
We all live on one spinning ball of madness Pumping through the universe, out of control
Heading into the vast unknown. Or are we? Maybe not. Maybe we had one single vision, one dream, one plan
To turn our ideas into reality. We focused our energy like Bruce Lee’s one inch punch
And yeah, we took a few shots
But Mr Mathers said you only get one and we’re not gonna miss our chance
And like Miss Earhart’s one flight across the Atlantic, we charged our engines and we flew.
In a world full of dissonance, it’s time for Harmony Our adventure begins, in three... two… ONE”
Keep Building (Bridges)
"i used to work for big tech companies. i used to rely on banks for my money. i also used to build ONLY what i was told possible. but how to make the world radically fair, or even create wealth together in harmony
this seems to be a dilemma — scaling trust without government, a fully open platform without attacks, or reaching consensus with thousands of people in seconds. actually, a TRILEMMA if you are counting without off-by-one.
but i saw the 10x social changes in the last decade. i studied cryptography which is indistinguishable from magic. builders around me now all share their code, their development, their dreams in public!
why do people isolate within one’s own island of governance? a walled garden of assets and collectibles? is it possible to embrace each other and build bridges, singing in harmony?
the oracle says otherwise; it looks like you are waiting for your next life to make things happen.
however, an anonymous coder did build a trillion dollar network to be the store of value; a 21-year kid launched an infinite machine and a global community of dreamers. YOU just need to bring the research to production, build tools across boundaries, and make real impacts in people’s lives.
this invincible summer (in the midst of winter, within me) is proving the point: clubs of people with small identity toward common goods, immutable ledgers of your life moments, radical ownership with self-imposed tax, fair rewards with quadratic votes… also, of course, billions of trades daily in open marketplaces without middlemen or gatekeepers.
the one percent of us already knows, the consensus is not evenly distributed yet.
we have built shards that horizontally and uniformly scale, secured stakes that delegate and slash rewards in a chained record, even a wallet without passwords or hardware.
now, it’s your choice to show your skills and creativity.
know thyself, being the ONE is just like being in love. the best way to live in the world you love is to build it.”
Decentralized Basic Income
We evaluate the mechanisms behind the decentralized finance protocols for generating stable, passive income. Currently, some savings interest rates can be as high as 20% annually, payable in traditional currency values such as US dollars. Therefore, one can benefit from the growth of the cryptocurrency markets, with minimal exposure to their volatility risks. We aim to explain the rationale behind these savings products in simple terms. The key here is that asset deposits in cryptocurrency ecosystems are of intrinsic economic value, as they facilitate network consensus mechanisms and automated marketplaces. Therefore, savings in cryptocurrency are associated with some unique advantages unavailable in traditional financial systems.
We will go through the implementations of how savings can be channeled into the staking deposits in Proof-of-Stake (PoS) protocols, through fixed-rate lending protocols, and staking derivative tokens. We will discuss potential pitfalls, assess how these protocols may behave in market cycles, as well as suggest areas for further research and development. We end by discussing the notion of decentralized basic income – analogous to universal basic income but guaranteed by financial products on blockchains instead of public policies.
*Radical Social Change
Ginsburg: Radical. Social. Change. When I was in law school there was no women's bathroom. It's amazing to me now that we never complained -- not because we were timid; we were just astounded to be in law school at all.
A hundred years ago Myra Bradwell wanted to be a lawyer. She had fulfilled the requirements for the Illinois bar, but she wasn’t allowed to practice because she was a woman -- an injustice, she asked the Supreme Court to correct. Illinois was so confident of victory, they didn’t even send a lawyer to argue their side. They were right. She lost. That was the first time someone went to court to challenge his or her prescribed gender role. A hundred years ago.
Radical. Social. Change. Sixty-five years ago, when women in Oregon wanted to work overtime, and make more money, as men could, the Court looked to the precedent in Bradwell -- and said no. So then there were two precedents. Then three. Then four. And on. And on. And you can draw a direct line from Myra Bradwell to Gwendolyn Hoyt -- told ten years ago she was not entitled to a jury of her peers.
That is the legacy the Government asks you to uphold today. You are being urged to protect the culture and traditions and morality of an America that no longer exists.A generation ago, my students would have been arrested for indecency for wearing the clothes that they do.
Sixty-five years ago, it would have been unimaginable that my daughter would aspire to a career. And a hundred years ago, I would not have the right to stand before you.
There are a hundred and seventy-eight federal laws that differentiate on the basis of sex. Count them. The Government did the favor of compiling them for you. And while you’re at it, I urge you to read them. They're obstacles to our children’s aspirations.
Doyle: You're asking us to turn over nearly a century of precedent.
Ginsburg: I’m asking you to set a new precedent, as courts have done before when the law is outdated.
Judge: But in those cases the courts had a clear constitutional handle. The word "woman" does not appear even once in the U.S. Constitution.
Ginsburg: Nor does the world "freedom," Your Honor.
*Blue Heart to Bond
Technology is a glittering lure. But there is the rare occasion when the public can be engaged on a level beyond flash, if they have a sentimental bond with the product.
My first job, I was in house at a fur company with this old pro copywriter, Greek, named Teddy.
And Teddy told me the most important idea in advertising was "new". Creates an itch. You simply put your product in there as a kind of calamine lotion.
But he also talked about a deeper bond with the product: nostalgia. It’s delicate, but potent.
Teddy told me that in Greek nostalgia literally means ‘the pain from an old wound.’
It’s a twinge in your heart, far more powerful than memory alone.
This device isn’t a space ship. It’s a time machine. It goes backwards, forwards. Takes us to a place where we ache to go again.
It’s not called ‘The Wheel.’ It’s called ‘The Carousel.’
It lets us travel the way a child travels. Around and around and back home again to a place where we know we are loved.
*Know Oneself via Oracle
ONE: How did you know?
Oracle: What’s really going to bake your noodle later on is, would you still have broken it if I hadn’t said anything. You’re cuter than I thought. I can see why she likes you.
Oracle: Not too bright, though. You know why Morpheus brought you to see me?
ONE: I think so.
Oracle: So, what do you think? Do you think you’re The One?
ONE: I don’t know.
Oracle: You know what that means? [Pointing to the sign above the door frame.] It’s Latin. Means “Know thyself”. I’m going to let you in on a little secret. Being The One is just like being in love. No one can tell you your’re in love, you just know it. Through and through. Balls to bones. Well, I better have a look at you. Open your mouth, say Ahhh.
Oracle: Okay. Now I’m supposed to say, “Umm, that’s interesting, but…,” then you say…
ONE: But what?
Oracle: But you already know what I’m going to tell you.
ONE: I’m not The One.
Oracle: Sorry, kid. You got the gift, but it looks like you’re waiting for something.
*Origin of 💙
The last time I saw you we had just split in two He was looking at me, I was looking at you You had a way so familiar I could not recognize Cause you had blood on your face And I had blood in my eyes But I swear by your expression That the pain down in your soul was the same As the one down in mine That's the pain That cuts a straight line down through the heart We call it love We wrapped our arms around each other Tried to shove ourselves back together We were making love, making love It was a cold dark evening such a long time ago When by the mighty hand of jove It was a sad story how we became lonely two-legged creatures The story, the origin of love
*To Sing in Perfect Harmony
“I'd like to build a world a home And furnish it with love Grow apple trees and honey bees And snow white turtle doves
I'd like to teach the world to sing In perfect harmony I'd like to hold it in my arms And keep it company
I'd like to see the world for once All standing hand in hand And hear them echo through the hills For peace throughout the land”
