In 2021, Harmony had been focusing on Adoption, Interoperability, and Decentralization. We have made major progress on the three goals so far. In 2022 and later, we continue to accelerate the adoption, enhance the interoperability, and further decentralize the network.
NFT initiatives
- Bridge: We will add multiple chain and layer 2 support into our NFT bridge, including Polygon and ImmutableX support.
- Research: We will research rollup support for NFT bridges to drastically reduce the gas fee of bridging NFTs across Ethereum.
- Tooling: We will add more NFT marketplaces and onboard curated NFT, generate artists, p2p trading, POAP to Harmony.
Decentralization
- We shall enable 100% external voting power support after security review.
- All validator nodes shall be run by external validators, no more internal validator nodes.
- We will enable leader rotation from internal nodes, to all external nodes. Leader nodes will receive extra block rewards.
Service and Operation
- We will deliver a scalable long term solution for RPC endpoints. Furthermore, we will work with partners like Infura, Alchemy, or QuckNode to provide alternative RPC endpoint services. We need to maintain 99.99% of uptime on our RPC endpoints.
- We will work with external partners like etherscan, thegraph, dune, gnosis to provide basic tooling to our ecosystem.
- Using bounty and grant, we will attract 50 more external contributors to Harmony. The total number of contributors increased from 42 to 100.
Milestone One
- I will design, and lead the implementation of a fully scalable RPC solution. The exemplar solution will be open sourced as an industry leader to benefit all EVM compatible blockchains. It is designed to handle 10x of current traffic in Nov/2021 with only ⅓ of the cloud cost.
Milestone Two
- I will design and implement a leader rotation algorithm in the Harmony blockchain. This solution will lead the way to full decentralization together with the resharding algorithm. Both internal and external validators on an allowlist will be able to serve as the leader in each shard.
Milestone Three
- I will lead the design and implementation of the cross-chain NFT bridge to support multiple L1/L2, including Polygon and ImmutableX. User-friendly features will be added to the NFT bridge including daVinci integration, NFT assets grouping, verification, and non-standard NFT support.
Milestone Four
- Our blockchain network will be fully decentralized, with 100% external voting power and 1,000 external nodes after the implementation of resharding. We will start multiple Infra DAOs to support Testnet, snapshot service, multi-sig wallet, bootnode, explorer. We shall reduce our AWS cost by 90% at Dec/2022.
