September Onsite presentations

Advance preparation for Presentations:

For the onsite, please make a presentation for what your team will do in 90 days to help Harmony grow. The presentations will be in 90 minute blocks, with 30-40 minutes allowed for the presentation and ample time for discussion on execution and resourcing.

The goal is not merely to state a problem, nor to make a stump speech for the value of a proposal. It is to state what you, after having achieved alignment with your team members and two other leads in advance of the onsite, will do for q4, and how you will do it.

Presenters:

⁉️Harmony’s Hard Problems: Open Consensus & Elastic Network

  • Deadlines (leads):
9/13, 12pm PST: Complete the presentation in collaboration with your team
9/14, 6pm PST: Have received feedback from two additional leads in: Stephen, Brian, Jack, Sam, Ganesha, RJ, Li
9/15, 6pm PST: Post plan on Notion

Deadlines (all):

9/18, 11am PST: Have read all presentations and come prepared with execution questions

Presentation format:

We will have a large-screen TV with HDMI cable, so you can make a deck and present it.

A successful presentation should specify all of the following points:

  • OVERALL FOCUS (business development; HR; marketing/communications; technical roadmap)
  • WHAT AND WHY - Outline current state and pain point:
    • Describe what's happening (with Harmony defi, gaming, ops, DAOs, NFTs, etc.)
    • Outline the problem/sub-problems and why the issue(s) are significant
    • Tie talk back to Harmony's mission
  • GOALS AND STRATEGY - Specify what you'll do to fix them and achieve growth/traction/improvement
    • Pros/cons of all possible solutions
    • Decisions that need resolving
    • List one metric for success for each part, and at least one major metric of success for the whole initiative
    • Timelines
  • CHAMPIONS
    • Assign ownership
    • List team members needed, with clear owner of each subpart
  • TRACTION
    • Subteam and cross-team buy-in in time for the onsite
    • Research completed
    • Work started and benefits realized

If you put attention and detail into the presentation, and if you solicit feedback from your team members plus two other leads, you can already achieve some internal alignment and consensus by the time of the onsite. Then, at the event, we will be able to have a productive dialogue to support and improve our plans to make successful execution more likely.

Tuesday at 10am sharp, we'll each talk 10 minutes on:

stephen

  • Reiterating Harmony's mission and vision
  • Affirming support so leaders and teams can drive direction, and to provide resources and direction for teams to accomplish their q4 goals
  • Have an AMA, where employees could put anonymous questions in a bowl throughout the day, then at dinner you can pull the questions out of the bowl and answers them.

li

  • Briefly reiterate departmental goals, ownership, restate that the timelines will be public
  • Express appreciation: you or we all can call out something you admire/appreciate or are grateful about each team member

jack

  • Brief state of the union, highlighting recent accomplishments

brian

  • Objectives of the onsite: to commit to executing q4 plans through blocking and tackling
  • Expectations for adhering to agenda for the next 3 days, and general overview of breaks, meals, end times, other logistics
  • Stress the importance of a cadence of accountability on executing plans (through manager check-ins, with set frequencies, agendas, required attendees)
