Toward community-driven development in the long term, how to balance our top-down control versus external autonomy?

Is there anything meaningful that can be spun-off currently? For this question to be appropriately answered, I will need to understand what is the overall strategy for Harmony? Where is the opportunity and what are we lacking? This question begs the “How” and I first need to know the “What” and the “Why”. Depending on the need and the timeline, my general preference is on strong partners and grants. However, the devil lies in the details here. The execution and the follow through. Additionally, if there is a particular strategy that Harmony is going with and feels strongly about, but lacks the technology or the project to support it and there is an existing strong product, then the acquisition may make sense.
