disconfirm own beliefs

5 I try to maintain the attitude that people whom I disagree with can teach me something.

I had a disagreement with a friend, he substantiated his argument with a piece of information that I was not aware of. I listened to his perspective and vetted the new information myself. Listening is essential.

self-aware & articulate

8 Hopefully reading this assessment gives you dear reader some indication of the latter and if you know me personally, the former.

When my girlfriend has an issue, I have made a habit of listening to what she has to say and internally assessing the validity of her claims before arguing back. After thinking about it I acknowledge her perspective, then proceed to calmly express my perspective and where i disagree with hers. This fosters compromise.

share a drink

10 I used to be a bartender…of course.

Ask Adrian Robison or Danny Carranza...always down to share a drink with friends, family and co-workers

spend 10 hours daily together

10 Love to spend time outside of work with my co-workers. I have formed lasting friendships from every job that I’ve ever held.

Again, ask Adrian Robison or Danny Carranza, when we worked together in the past we would spend as much as 4 consecutive 16 hour work days together, hang out afterwards...all while managing to still really like each other

nurture & mentor

5 Being the oldest sibling, this role is profound in my personal life.

I have 3 younger siblings, I constantly nurture and mentor them by urging them to not repeat my past mistakes.

make everyone shine

7 aka “team work” the team is only as strong as its weakest link, if one succeeds or fails, we all succeed or fail.

Playing football growing up,I am quite familiar with team sports. I view the creative process as a team sport as well, when in a directorial role for a given project, I strive to communicate a clear vision for everyone involved and place them in positions where they are going to thrive the most.

people over process

10 Firm believer in this. The ability to be able to work with people as a team is more important than individual skill sets.

Adrian Robison, Danny Carranza and I are well-versed in working as a team and working hard/playing hard. We went to Arizona for a shoot and slept 4 hours a night, worked 20 hour days (mostly in 116 degree heat), four days in a row.

obsess over details

10 I have been diagnosed with OCD so yes...a bit of a perfectionist

Every time I finish a video, I export and watch twice to make sure there are no mistakes.

dare to disagree

7 I’m agreeable yet can be a bit of a contrarian...I’m known to speak my mind.

My old employer had an idea of what she wanted for a client, I had taken the time and spoken to the client personally, this gave me the confidence to challenge her idea.

Passion

long-time craftsmanship

6 Been editing videos since childhood.

Started editing videos on Windows movie maker in 6th grade

hungry & foolish

5 Risk averse at times, yet follow my passions.

I have been stupid enough to pursue a career in the arts despite the fact that authority figures told me that it wasn’t financially lucrative.

share the mission

9 The mission is ours.

I believe that most hostilities can be solved through transparency and open dialogue.

your 50-year dream

5

I want to direct a feature length movie.

optimistic about flying off a cliff

5 “Failure is the greatest teacher of all” -Yoda.

I failed miserably at real estate, I knocked on doors and hosted dozens of open houses while not having a penny to show for it. Although I failed financially, I learned to be bold…to put myself out there and become okay with rejection.

consistent with own actions

6 I typically consider myself a man of my word, if I say I’m going to do something, I do it. However, there are some values I hold that I don’t live up to.

I’m about health and fitness, yet I ingest nicotine sometimes.

admit mistakes

10 No problem admitting when I’m wrong.

I teased my brother the other day, he said messed up things to me in response, I still apologized.

make tough decisions

5 -Used to struggle with “analysis paralysis” but have gotten much better.

Trait agreeableness is something that I sometimes struggle with, when it comes to being confrontational with a friend, sometimes it’s difficult. Additionally, I struggled to choose a specific career path for a long time, because I wanted it to be “just right,” I learned that sometimes you just need to make a decision even if arbitrary and then commit…fulfillment and happiness come from taking action.

Excellence

top 1% superstar

7 I try to be, but I know my strengths and weaknesses.

In high school I was in the top of my class while taking all AP/Honors classes, playing football, and running track and field. I played on one of the best high school football teams in California, I won several medals for track and field. I graduated cumlade from college.

effective tooling

6 When I don’t know something, whether it be the definition of a word or an error I’m experiencing while video editing, I look it up.

I was having export issues with Davinci the other day and looked up a shortcut that uses cache memory files to hasten the process.

relevant to our needs

10 I’m a fast learner, I’m creative, and can learn anything. If you want to engage with the masses in a creative way, I’m your guy.

I created the highest performing video for an ad campaign out of my team.

10x growth

10 That’s the goal.

When I first began video editing, I was creative but I lacked the technical…from 2 years ago to today…I have 10 x’d my craft.

voracious learner

10 I’m definitely a lifelong learner.

I read at least one book a month, and listen to podcasts every night before bed. I also recently started re-learning Spanish.

contrarian thinker

10 Not afraid to go against popular opinion.

I debated my brother and my friends about something controversial the other day, they all held a particular position, I thought they were wrong and stuck to my guns.

accomplish important work

7 Why do the work if its not important?

I created content for several brands that increased their engagement.

activity < productivity

8 Working smart > working hard, I would rather be moving the needle then doing menial tasks…I want to create engaging content…learning from failure and putting out stuff that drives engagement.

I would rather be creating a video right now than writing this sentence.

thrive in chaos

7 “I’m an agent of chaos” -Joker I perform well in high pressure situations.

I had several college papers due the same day within a few day time frame and managed to get an A on all of them.
