Guidelines for Harmony Grants

To get you started, here are the guidelines on how to become a part of the Harmony Ecosystem.

πŸš€ Launches

Goal: 500 Launches ($20M in total)

Applications of each launch must have prototyped a feature-full product. Harmony helps incubate these founding teams with product development, fundraising, and talent recruit. We recommend a $50K equity-free contribution each:

$10K after launching a feature-complete product on our testnet $10K after forming a DAO with 5-out-of-9 multisig with our DAOs $10K after launching on our mainnet with audit $10K after 1K daily active users (with launch video, full PR promotion) $10K after 10k daily active users (with a detailed roadmap, governance process)

For projects already live on Harmony Mainnet, Harmony's Launch Grant can boost tractions with $50K retroactive funding: $10K forming a DAO like above, then four additional $10K grants each to double the key user metrics.

As for DAO formations, we recommend a 5-of-9 multisig account on Gnosis Safe with 3 governors from the project team, 3 governors from the project community, and 3 governors from Harmony DAOs – namely, ONEcommunityDAO, ONEdeveloperDAO, ONEincubatorDAO.

πŸ’‘

Be ready with a proof-of-concept; whitepapers, slide decks, blog posts are all welcomed to reinforce a proposal. Code written and deployed speaks volumes.

We recommend that all code bases, development materials and production assets associated with your proposal to be fully open, preferrably with MIT or BSD licences; early feedback form our community and our DAOs (e.g. ONEcommunityDAO, ONEdeveloperDAO, ONEincubatorDAO, etc) after posting the proposal and weekly updates posted on Harmony's forum; all services and apps deployed must be easily clonable. We ask for a 3-month exclusive campaign with Harmony before launching with other chains. We also offer follow-on investments (see Investments below)

πŸ—οΈ Ports

Goal: 100 Ports ($20M in total)

Recipients of each grant for porting must have achieved product-market fit. Harmony helps scale these thriving projects via porting to our Mainnet. We recommend $50-250K each over 4-8 weeks, on projects already with active 10K users, and engaging their teams in public forums. Prime areas of market growths are Play-to-Earn games, musician fan clubs, investment DAOs, portfolio dashboards, and event and collectible curators.

For these projects already live on other chain's Mainnet, Harmony's Port Grant can boost their reach of users and engagement. As grants, we give $50K for porting to our Mainnet and another $25K for forming a DAO on our platform. For any project, a DAO ensures community participation, product sustainability, and open governance.

For example, Harmony serves as a cross-chain platform by porting existing applications from Ethereum, Polygon, Polkadot, Cosmos and other chains. As mentioned above, projects of "100 Ports" will receive $50K-250K each, totaling $20M in grant amount. We target the top 25% projects across chains with most tractions and highest potential: DeFi apps should have at least $20M total locked value or 20% sustained yields; NFT mints or games 10K daily active users; DAO $100K payouts. Highly vibrant and engaged communities usually have social metrics of 50K Twitter followers, 10K Discord members, 5000 active wallets, and 1000 Telegram daily online.

$50K after to Port over a feature-complete product on our Mainnet $25K after forming a DAO with 5-out-of-9 multisig with our DAOs $35K each time we double user/value metrics

We recommend a 5-of-9 multisig account on Gnosis Safe with 3 governors from the project team, 3 governors from the project community, and 3 governors from Harmony DAOs – namely, ONEcommunityDAO, ONEdeveloperDAO, ONEincubatorDAO. We also give five additional $35K grants, totally $250K with the initial $50K+25K grants, each for running joint campaigns to double the key user metrics.

We recommend that all code bases, development materials and production assets associated with your proposal to be fully open, preferrably with MIT or BSD licences; early feedback form our community and our DAOs (e.g. ONEcommunityDAO, ONEdeveloperDAO, ONEincubatorDAO, etc) after posting the proposal and weekly updates must on sent on forum; and, all server deploys or mobile apps must be easily clonable. We ask for 3-month exclusive campaigns with Harmony before more porting with other chains. We also offer follow-on investments – see Investments below.

πŸ‘ͺ DAOs

Goal: 100 DAOs ($50M in total)

Governors of each DAO have delegated autonomy over its assets and initiatives. Harmony helps define 3 broad mandates, recruit 9 governors, define the deliverables and metrics each 3-month term, and fund at maximum $1M. An example of a DAO grant funded for $80K each term will hav the following milestones with funds released at these stages:

$20K after reaching the Dawn stage (Operational) $40K after reaching the Day stage (Active Voting) $20K after reaching the Dusk stage (Measure and Record)

πŸŒ‡ Dawn stage (Operational)

1) with the help of an Ambassador DAO member, ensure 9 governors recruited, voted in and published on Harmony's forum, all members set up as 5-of-9 Gnosis Safe signers on a wallet and able to operate on a governance platform such as Aragon, DAOhaus or Coordinape. 2) Defined or refined the 3 DAO mandates. 3) Established, or transitioned from incumbents, a) Email addresses shared and calendars setup as team on Calendly, b) Discord with roles, public/private channels, with MEE6 or Wick anti-spam bots, c) Telegram with Shieldy, admins assigned to governors, d) Twitter handles setup with teams delegated to governors via Tweetdeck, e) identified a Harmony forum category to situate all discussions, or established own Medium blog, f) established a GitHub repo or Notion page to document DAO mandates, record meeting minutes and a Kanban board for action items especially from monthly retrospectives. πŸ’‘ At this stage the DAO is now up and running.

πŸŒ… Day stage (Active Voting)

1) have held at least 3 publicly accessible meetings with agendas with established RACI, executing on the DAO mandates; all present or absent attendees must provide updates and participate in decision-makings, publishing minutes on all channels (Harmony forum or Medium, Twitter, Telegram, and Discord) with an Ambassador DAO member stand witness over initial 3 meetings; 2) completed at least 3 successful governance proposals released for public votes, each with a minimum two-week voting period, each reaching at least 33% quorum of ONE token holders or their respective HRC20 token holders. πŸ’‘ At this stage, the DAO focuses on growth and engagement of the community.

πŸŒ„ Dusk stage (Measure and Record)

1) carried out a third monthly retrospective session, measuring and recording the performance of how the DAO mandates executions took place, what worked, what didn't, documenting and creating an action plan for each lesson, recorded as a GitHub issue or Notion page, publishing them on all channels (Harmony forum or Medium, Twitter, Telegram and Discord), 2) launched marketing campaign for the next round of incoming governors, solicited at least 9 governors to post their candidacy on the Harmony forum, scheduled DAO elections and prepared a binder for incoming governors to onboard quickly. πŸ’‘ At this stage, the nears DAO completion of its tasks and readies to transition to new governors.

πŸ’‘

Governors are required to exercise critical thinking, excellent written and verbal communication, carries a heavy responsibility and require sound judgment to execute on all of the DAO mandates. The mandates must resonate with governors, be a passion of theirs to carry out the mandates with a sense or urgency and without haste.

Governors are recommended to participate in 3-month election terms, suggest peer bonuses via performance feedback, 80% passing votes, and openly tracking timesheets and deliverables for each member. We recommend $75 to $350 per hour as the self-assessed salary. Being a governor is not about having a part-time job.

🏹 Bounties

Goal: 1000 Bounties ($30M in total)

Hunters of each bounty can be anonymous and without commitment. Harmony helps define the scopes, the estimated hours and the deliverables of tasks. We recommend $10K-$200K as a bounty's reward, small teams of 1-3 persons engaging over 3-12 weeks, and effective hourly rates of $110-$185 – focusing on engineering tasks for our systems, networks, protocols, tools, middle-wares, and services. In contrast, our development DAOs can manage tasks smaller than $10K while business DAOs can incentivize non-technical tasks.

🀝 Partners

Goal: 10 Partners ($30M in total)

Owners of each partner drive business and corporate development. Harmony commits to cross-chain adoption with industry-leading projects. We recommend $3-5M for each liquidity or marketing campaign over 6-12 months, $5-10M for each acquisition of small teams, and $1-3M for seeding a regional or thematic subsidiary.

🏒 Investments

Goal: 50 Investments ($20M in total)

Tokens of each investment are on-chain and semi-liquid. Harmony helps evaluate technical strengths, market potentials, and ecosystem alignment. We recommend $250K-$1M for each check at maximum $10M valuation, collaborate over events and campaigns, and rebalance portfolio quarterly to diversify.

🎀 Events

πŸ—οΈ
$1M Hackathon & DAO on Building Bridges

Goal: 10+100 Events ($10M in total)

Organizers of each event follow our templates to bring in new builders. Harmony has success with Gitcoin, DoraHacks, ETH Global and DevPost with $2M+ campaigns. We recommend hosting our own quarterly hackathons with $1M prizes each, sponsoring $100K workshops for industry-wide conferences, giving $50K keynotes in regional events, and empowering 100 local organizers – with $1K budget for a 20-attendee 2-speaker event, or $5K for 50 with 4 speakers, and $10K for 100 with a co-sponsor.

πŸ’‘

We encourage regional Harmony Ambassadors to be setup as a DAO and will help onboard you with the proper playbooks to host successful and continuous events.
